Description of IaaS.

IaaS

IaaS is the most flexible category of cloud services, it provides you the maximum amount of control over cloud resources. The cloud provider is responsible for the hardware, network connectivity to the internet and physical secure. You are responsible for everything else; the OS, configuration, maintenance etc. IaaS is essentially renting the hardware in a cloud datacenter. See the shared responsibility model for visual.

Scenarios

• Lift-and-shift migration: setting up cloud resources similar to the on-prem datacenter, and then moving the things on-prem to the IaaS infrastructure.

• Testing and development: established configurations for development and environments you need to rapidly replicate. The environments can be started and stopped rapidly with IaaS.
