2.2.1 Introduction - Compute and Networking

Introduction to compute and networking module.

This module introduces Azure compute and networking services. It teaches three of the compute options: VMs, containers and Azure functions. It will also teach about Azure Virtual Networks, Azure DNS and Azure ExpressRoute.

Learning Objectives

• Compare compute types: container instances, VMs and functions.

• Describe VM options, VM scale sets, VM availability sets and Azure Virtual Desktop.

• Describe resources required for VMs.

• Describe app hosting options like Azure Web Apps, containers and VMs.

• Describe Azure Virtual Networking, the purpose of Azure Virtual Networks, Azure virtual subnets, peering, Azure DNS, VPN Gateway, and ExpressRoute.

• Define public and private endpoints.

• Provide a summary.
